About SAE

The Secretariat of Strategic Affairs (SAE) is an essential body of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil, created by  Law No. 11,754 passed on July 23rd, 2008.  The Secretariat  is headed by the Minister of State, Samuel Pinheiro Guimarães Neto, and is responsible for theformulation of policies in areas deemed of strategic importance for the national development agenda, with a long-term perspective.
In addition to this main goal, the Secretariat is also responsible for the following issues:
• discuss and develop public policies in conjunction with the government and  civil society;
• propose immediate actions to reform the State in view of future policies;
• elaborate proposals to guide government actions;
